Marty Lerner, PhD.
A graduate of Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Lerner is a licensed and board certified clinical psychologist who has specialized in the treatment of eating disorders since 1980. He has appeared on numerous national television and radio programs that include The NPR Report, 20/20, Discovery Health, and ABC’s Nightline, as well as, authored several publications related to eating disorders in professional literature, national magazines, and newspapers including USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Miami Herald, Orlando and Hollywood Sun Sentinels. An active member of the professional community here in South Florida since finishing his training, Dr. Lerner makes his home in Davie with his wife Michele and daughters Janelle, Danielle and their dog, Reggie.
Mr. Held, with his background in the financial industry, realized a vision of one day applying his business experiences within the realm of addictions treatment. Shortly thereafter, Jay embarked on a joint venture to begin a residential treatment program offering specialized services to people with eating disorders. Some fifteen years later, Milestones in Recovery has evolved into that vision. Making his home in South Florida with his wife Elysze, their son Zack, and his beloved dog Boscoe, Jay oversees the business and administrative components of Milestones.
Our Clinical Staff
Bobbie Hayes, MS, LMHC, CAP
Bobbie Hayes, LMHC is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Certified Addictions Professional and a member of numerous local and national professional societies. In addition to an extensive background working with patients suffering with chemical dependencies and related disorders, she has focused her clinical expertise on adapting her skills to provide care for patients suffering with co-existing eating disorders. During her tenure at Milestones, Ms. Hayes assumed the position of Program Director for the Residential Eating Disorders Program at Milestones. Part of her responsibilities have included the supervision and training of graduate level interns from local universities in the South Florida area, as well as, enjoying a position as Associate Lecturer at Nova Southeastern University’s Behavioral Sciences Department. In addition, Bobbie maintains a part-time private practice at the Milestones Cooper City campus.
Having served on a number of professional and advisory boards throughout her career, she has been elected in 2013 as President of the National Association Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors [NAADAC] Association for the state of Florida. As president elect of the Florida Chapter, her responsibilities will include the promotion of a better understanding of the nature of addiction beyond alcohol and drugs, in order to reach those suffering with related dependencies such as eating disorders.
Married to Steve Sampier for the past five years, Bobbie has two daughters from a prior marriage and is the proud grandparent of three amazing grandchildren. Much of her free time is spent enjoying her grandchildren, as well as, participating in numerous charities and local fundraising events. Her intimate involvement with the South Florida community has included active participation with such not for profit organizations as the March of Dimes, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, the Jubilee Center, Hispanic Unity, and the Community Enhancement Collaboration.
Linda Dolin, MD
A graduate of Chicago Medical in 1986 and completing her residency at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago in 1989, Dr. Dolin serves as our internal medicine consultant and plays and active role with our program at Milestones. A resident of South Florida with her husband and children, Dr. Dolin has served as a primary care physician for several local hospitals and facilities in our area and has been part of the Milestones clinical team for the past several years.
Nathaniel Keller, MD
Psychiatrist / Medical Director
Dr. Keller completed his medical degree at the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv and New York City and post-graduate training at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of the University of Pittsburg Medical Center. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Keller holds positions as a assistant professor of Psychiatry at the University of Miami School of Medicine and enjoys affiliations with several local hospitals as a psychiatric consultant. He has served as medical director and attending physician at Milestones for the past several years in addition to maintaining a private practice in the area.
Nikki Glantz, RD/LDN has served as the Milestones Eating Disorders Program dietitian for the past ten years and has a diversified background in working with patients suffering with both eating disorders and related mental health issues. A graduate of The University of Florida’s Health Sciences Program, as well as, having an advanced degree from Florida International University with a specialty in Dietetics and Nutrition, Nikki provides an invaluable service to her clients and the patients at Milestones. Her experience with the eating disordered population, spans more than a decade and includes working with this population in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
In addition to being the proud mother of three young boys and married to her husband David since graduating college, Nikki is an active member of the South Florida community. She is highly regarded as the “go to” person among family, friends, and especially her colleagues at Milestones. She also maintains a part-time private practice at the Milestones Cooper City Campus and serves as a consultant to a local chemical dependency program in the area.
Dara Bushman-Deleon, PsyD
Dr. Bushman-Deleon is a licensed clinical psychologist with a background as a certified fitness professional,and has a wide variety of experiences as both an athlete and coach prior to completing her graduate education. Her area of expertise and interests include women’s issues, health and wellness, nutrition, and the challenges inherent to recovering from an eating disorder. Sports psychology, anxiety management, and the treatment of mood disorders such as depression are among Dr. Bushman-Deleon’s private practice endeavors.
Since joining the clinical team at Milestones, she has added a unique dimension to our program with her extensive experiences with exercise physiology, nutrition, and counseling skills. As an up and coming lecturer and public speaker, Dr. Bushman-Deleon has been invited to speak at both national and local venues addressing topics ranging from sports psychology to eating disorders. She received her doctorate in psychology at Carlos Albizu University and completed her internship and post-doctoral training at facilities in Orlando, as well as, here in the South Florida area. Dr. Bushman-Deleon practices clinical psychology in addition to serving as a clinical supervisor to some of the counseling staff and interns at the Milestones facility.
Kristina Beaudry, LMHC, NCC, MAC
PrimaryTherapist and Operations Manager
Having completed her training at Broward General Hospital’s Psychiatric Department and Nova Southeastern University’s Mental Health Counseling Program, Kristina joined the clinical team at Milestones as one of our primary therapists. A member of both the American Counseling Association [ACA] and the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors [NAADAC], she is an active participant within the mental health community of South Florida.
Prior to the completion of her graduate training, Kristina served as our business and operations manager, first joining Milestones in 2008. Kristina continues to serve as our in-house compliance manager for theJoint Commission [JCAHO] as well as Florida’s Agency for Healthcare Administration [ACHA] – responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the regulatory licenses and accreditations held by Milestones.
Kristina, her husband, and their daughter along with their two dogs, Deuce and Dozer, reside in South Florida
Priscilla Valadares, MA, LMHC
Primary Therapist, Art Therapist
With a graduate degree in Counseling Psychology from Prescott College in Arizona, Priscilla had worked as an intern at Milestones, prior to joining our staff as our resident expressive arts therapist. Priscilla has a background working with both substance dependency and eating disorder patients at various South Florida facilities and settings.
A member of the American Art Therapy Association [AATA], Priscilla makes her home here in South Florida with her husband and cat, Finnegan.
Kathy MacAdams, RN
A recent addition to our staff here at Milestones, Kathy works directly with Dr. Dolin and Dr. Keller to ensure the medical needs are met for both the residential and outpatient participants.
Our Operational Staff
Erin, originally a South Florida native, is the newest addition to the Milestones family. She recently returned to the area after living in Northern and Southern California for the past 4 years.
A graduate of the University of Central Florida, she has a degree in Event Management and Hospitality.
Erin lives in Davie with her daughter and husband, Jorge. In her spare time she enjoys cooking and spending time with her family.
Facilities and Transport Manager
Joining Milestones in 2008, Ray serves as both our maintenance manager and in-house “go-to-guy” for staff and residents alike. Ray also is responsible for transporting participants to and from our residential and clinical sites, in addition to community based support groups and scheduled activities. Ray is a close friend to the “recovery community” here in South Florida for more than 32 years.
An avid motorcycle enthusiast, Ray makes his home in the western part of Ft. Lauderdale with his family and canine friends, Sookie and Kashmir.
As a Milestones alumni for a number of years, Colleen brings her understanding, as well as, compassion for the eating disordered person embarking on their recovery journey. She lives our way of life and strives to help others on a daily basis. Colleen has completed her education and certification as a Medical Assistant and hopes to one day return to school for nursing.
New England natives, Colleen and her husband, Greg, relocated in 2010 to the South Florida area to be close to a strong recovery community. They make their home in Pembroke Pines along with their yellow lab, Clyde, and two cats – Mr. Snowball and Penny.
Kristie Rodriguez, MS
Kristie is a graduate of Palm Beach Atlantic University with a degree in Elementary Education and Psychology. She also holds a master’s degree in Exceptional Student Education from Nova Southeastern University. Kristie shifted her career from teaching to join the Milestones family in 2008. She serves as one of our resident managers, ensuring that the needs of our clients are taken care of at our residences.
Once an Ohio native, Kristie now resides in South Florida with her husband, her daughter and her yellow lab, DC.
Emma joined Milestones in 2012, and has served on our staff as a resident manager for several years now. She is a graduate of the Miami International University of Art & Design, holding a degree in Interior Design. Emma was born and raised in Honduras and has enjoyed living in South Florida since 2001.
Emma takes full advantage of the year round nice weather by enjoying the beach often and lives in Pembroke Pines with her Australian Shepherd, Cisco. She is a proud aunt to her 2 year old niece.
