Hi Marty,

I’m guessing you are in the mountains at this time. My family and I just got off a cruise and gratefully I’m still abstinent and chugging along. I have this little story about last night that I shared with my sponsor, but I feel like I would like to share with you, too. If you think it’s worthwhile, please share with Nikki, too. Thank you>

Here’s my email to my sponsor…

“We were invited to a birthday dinner for one of my husband’s friends. I really like all his friends and their wives.

Anyway, it was a dinner. There were 8 of us. It was lovely. I had asked permission to bring my weighed and measured food and put it on their dinner plate when I got there. They had no problem allowing me to do whatever I needed to do, and that was very kind of them. I did exactly that. I had plenty of my food. I finished my plate at the same time that everyone else finished their food. I passed up dessert and I
feel great this morning.

Being abstinent takes guts and discomfort at times. However, the God of my understanding got me through and comforts me…especially this morning as I feel physically, emotionally and spiritually well. It’s all part of the recovery process. Thank you, God.

If this recovery business was easy – everyone would be doing this. I put my hand in yours and together we can do what I could never do alone. I really needed to share this particular event with you as it feels very important to me. Like I climbed a mountain and crowned it with a flag of recovery!

I NEVER WOULD HAVE THOUGHT TO DO THIS HAD I NOT GONE TO THE MILESTONES TREATMENT CENTER A WHILE BACK. I AM SO GRATEFUL I HAD THAT OPPORTUNITY, BECAUSE I LEARNED SO MUCH ABOUT ME AND ABOUT HOW TO HANDLE ME AND TO STAY WELL THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THE DAYS OF MY LIFE.”

Have a great day! Stay well
