Eating disorders are a form of survival.
It’s time for a new practice.

It IS possible to:

✔️ Remove your triggers that keep you in unhealthy cycles
✔️ Rediscover your power and identity beyond your eating disorder, and
✔️ Reclaim control over your mental and physical wellbeing.

You’re here because you know your life’s on the line. Quiet the compulsion and find freedom from food before it takes one more minute from you.

Milestones might be the
right fit for you if:

No matter how many times you promise yourself, “this will be the last time”, you find yourself binging, starving, purging or obsessing, day after day

You can’t pass a store reflection without body checking yourself

You feel shame about yourself, your body, your relationship to food.

You’ve tried to sculpt, shrink, and perfect every part of yourself, and you are finally realizing, no matter what size you get to, it’s not enough

You feel like you are “falling behind” those around you because you’re unable to date, advance in your career or take big steps because of your obsession with food and your body

You feel most comfortable alone with your food, and that makes you feel isolated and disconnected from the world

Your body has been through enough. You’ve spent too long hating what you see in the mirror.

You deserve to experience peace. It’s time to quiet the compulsion.

Frequently Asked Questions About Who We Treat

Can you describe the typical person who comes to Milestones? What are they struggling with, and what have they usually tried before they arrive?

Most people who come to Milestones are adults 18 and older who have been struggling with an eating disorder for a long time. They have tried things on their own — different diets, different therapists, sometimes other treatment programs — and nothing has stuck. They arrive feeling stuck, ashamed, and exhausted.

Many have tried every food plan and every psychological approach, but have not found something that treats both the physical and emotional sides of their eating disorder at the same time. Many arrive feeling like it is their fault, like they just do not have enough willpower. Milestones helps them understand: it is not about willpower. It is a compulsion, and compulsions can be treated.

Milestones welcomes adults 18 and older of all genders. Whether you are a man, woman, or identify in any other way, you are welcome here. Recovery does not have a gender requirement, and neither do we.

What types of eating disorders does Milestones treat, and are there specific populations you specialize in?

Milestones treats anorexia, bulimia, compulsive overeating, binge eating disorder, diabulimia, and orthorexia. Many patients arrive dealing with a combination of several of these at once, which is more common than most people think.

What we see most often is that the eating disorder does not show up alone. The large majority of people who come through our doors are also dealing with depression, anxiety, or other co-occurring issues that have made daily life feel unmanageable. That is not the exception here — that is the norm, and it is exactly what we treat. We do not just focus on food. We look at the whole picture, because for most of our patients, it is the whole picture that has been making life so hard. When you treat everything together, that is when real recovery becomes possible.

Do patients come to Milestones from outside of Florida? Where do they typically travel from, and why do they choose Milestones over options closer to home?

Yes — most of Milestones' residential patients come from throughout the United States, and the center has also welcomed patients from around the world, including Germany, Canada, Finland, and Israel. The facility is located in Hollywood, Florida, near two major airports in South Florida, which makes travel easier for out-of-state families.

People travel to Milestones for several reasons. Some have already tried programs closer to home without success and are ready for something different. Others have heard about Milestones through word of mouth — from a therapist, a doctor, or someone who has been through the program. And some families specifically want their loved one to be away from their everyday environment while they heal, because a fresh start in a new place can make a real difference.

The warm South Florida climate and the apartment-style living also make the stay feel less like a medical facility and more like a place where real healing can happen. Whether you are coming from across the state, across the country, or across the ocean, Milestones is worth the trip.
